June 29, 2009 - R.I.P FARRAH & MICHAEL - MC MOON - KICKS OUT THE JAM

Toronto homegirl ANTONELLA SIGISMONDI was here to play a part in her sister Floria's new movie  THE RUNAWAYS currently in production. All I can say is FUN TIMES!  Except for when we met on Hollywood Blvd the day Michael died and his star was covered by a carpet for the Transformers movie premiere as well as Sasha Baron Cohen's new movie BRUNO.  It was very apparent that people were so deeply saddened by this. Farrah & Michael on the same day. What an incredibly tragic vibe in the air on the boulevard of broken dreams. Both of them had full careers but troubled lives.R.I.Peace

Hey folks, I seemed to have made the upcoming issue of MUSIC CONNECTION, L.A.'s music trade mag who gave me some very positive press, referring to Betty Moon as the "hottest Canadian alternative new metal artist". Yaaay... I can live with that. This week I officially begin working with GAVIN BROWN. Going into world-reknown SAGE & SOUND Recording Studios in Hollywood to work with Gavin and engineer LENNY DEROSE who I've heard so much about over the years.  Very prepared and very excited to work with the both of them.  Wish me luck. I'm getting ready to kick some MOFO ass brothers and sisters!  Also wanna thank Jeff Zurba for introducing the two of us.

June 16, 2009 - Betty Moon and the Electric Sage and Sound Experience

Hollywood is full of some of the best recording facilities worldwide. Visited Sharon Lewis from SAGE AND SOUND in the studio district of Hollywood.  Puddle of Mudd were hard at work on their new record as Sharon escorted me through one of the best studios in town. Lots of my fav bands have recorded here.  Who you ask?  Stone Temple Pilots, Motorhead, Marilyn Manson, The Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer, Robert Plant, The Black Crowes, Down, Sheryl Crow, Mars Volta just to name a few. Studio A is huge and has a sort of Italian Tuscany gothic-vibe with a beautiful grand piano, high high ceilings painted like the sky with birds in flight, while Studio B is warm, confortable and intimate.  Hollywood guitar god Brian Stuart from Music Connection came by to do a few shots for next months issue of Music Connection, the Hollywood music industry trade magazine. The cameras were flashing, I was rock n roll posing, you know … that’s what people do in Hollywood.  Now I’m thinking the next thing I should consider is to take out insurance on my mouth for five million dollars!  Silly me.

May 21, 2009 - Two Turntables and a Neumann Microphone

Bruce Monical of Capitol Records Studios set me up with THEE microphone yesterday. I have to say, my adrelin rush went through the roof when he told me it was the actual Neumann microphone that Johnny Cash sang his vocals with on his very last record produced by Rick Ruben. Great work for Johnny to check out with, strengthened by Trent Reznor's Hurt and Depeche Mode's Personal Jesus and a tres cool version of Witchitah Lineman.  How very sweet of Bruce to do that for me.  The guy has the most incredible collection of Neuman microphones I have ever seen.. like looking at the lost arc. These guys aren't working the biggest studio in the entire world because of there trendy haircuts. What an honour.  Hey, thanks Bruce  ~+~

May 04, 2009 - Rainbowed Heart from The Rainbow Bar, Landmark, Hollywood

Good times. Had about 40 people over last night. A few rockstars, some very notable executives, very smart men and women all round. I hope to start working with a new producer this month. This will be the first time as I’ve always produced my own songs and CDs… yes I’m a little controlling, but I believe in this man’s abilities so I’m prepared to release him a little rope. Last Thursday I went to the 40th Anniversary party at The Rainbow Bar & Grill on Sunset. It’s a bit like The Bovine in Toronto but it has been around way longer. Owner Mario Maglieri also owns The Whiskey a block away and used to own The Key Club. Had an amazing time. Hung out with Lemmy Kilmister along with a variety of wild and fun characters… buddy from Bad Brains, whom I shared a doob with outside on the patio and The Art of Dying boys from Vancouver. Handing out my promo CD to a select few and getting an incredibly supportive reaction which, of course, always warms my beating heart.

April 19, 2009 - Trouble Loves Me

The dust has settled.  For the first time in a long long time, I am actually doing what I want to do.  Somehow I know this is not going to last. Must stay positive. Will trouble find me?  Not this time baby. Unless it's the good kind.  Is there such a thing? Yes.  But it can set you back and become nothing but a distraction for those of us who want to stay on track rather than leave tracks. I'm just thrilled to be amongst greatness and hoping it may rub off on me one day. One day closer. Night falls. It's 3 in the fucking morning! Must get some rest and resume in morning glory. Trying to stay out of trouble though I promise.
